Women's Clothing and Shoes in Mr Dog Poop's Prop Department

As we start to build our studio we are working to build a good collection of props, clothing, jewelry, shoes for any occasion. Of course, we would need an amazon warehouse to fit everything we need. But even with limited space, it is important to have clothing and accessories available on set.

Even with a limited wardrobe of a few hundred outfits in varying sizes, we will be able to create many videos ideas around certain themes.

The problem with actors and actresses is that they show up in jeans and sneakers and that will not work to produce a high quality product. In fact, using people's everyday clothing makes your film or production look cheap.

Clothing just like any other element of a scene is critical to making the viewer believe and submerse into the film's plot. When real life is put on film, it looks like home movies. When making films, things are exaggerated. Expressions are not subtle, they are apparent and obvious.

Dressing someone up in flashy clothes in an office scene for example is paramount t making people believe it is a "professional" office. Sure, people may wear jean and flip flops to work in their office, but you will never see that in a movie unless the characters are hippies or slackers.

You don't typically want to sell your office as being run by slackers, even if it really is. You want a professional look and feel whether it is for a scene in a film or a social media promotional video.

So you need to dress the actors in above average office wear, suits or business attire, not business casual.

We have been acquiring clothing which mostly vintage because we like to make retro videos and films, in those cases, getting clothing from the 1970's is not that easy. And, if you need it, it could take weeks or months to find, if you don't have a costumer on hand and fabric to make them.

Sourcing props is a whole other blog post and a full time job for our props department. So we try to use what we already have, writing scripts to use the clothing and costumes in our wardrobe.

If we have a couple of police uniforms, we make a skit using 2 police officers, if we have a control panel that looks like the inside of a space ship, we build the story around that. So the more we have in our props, the more we can do.

If you are a videographer or film maker it can be hard to get inspired when you have nothing to work with. Making movies is your passion, but how many stories can you write that take place in your sparsely furnished apartment?

That is the gap we are trying to fill at Mr Dog Poop Studios. We want to work with creative people, offer our resources, costumes, cameras, studio and people to create better more professional films.

This is why we are building a large collection of props and posting them as quickly as we can on our website.

Our latest acquisitions include hundreds of necklaces, rings, bracelets and other jewelry to complete any look.

All of our inventory is available for use in our productions or for anyone that wishes to rent our studio for their own production. In many cases, the cost of a few hours of studio space is going to be less than having to buy your own outfits or props.
