Free Prop Rental for Content CreatorsPart of the risk of making your own videos is acquiring the props. One, because it is time consuming, expensive and when you are done, what do you do with them.
This is the problem we face at Mr Dog Poop Studios after making our own videos for the first year we had shelves of left over props.
Of course without props, our videos would be bland and not get the attention that we have become accustom. And how do you shoot an apple off of someone's head without a bow and arrows.
But when the shoot is over, we have a brand new bow and a few arrows that we might, some day in the future use again if we are lucky.
But that does not mean it is the end of life for that prop, at least we hope it isn't.
Our hope is that other content creators can use our facility and take advantage of all the props, costumes and supplies that we have on our shelves. In fact, many of the props were never even used.
The process of planning a video shoot, writing the script for even a 2 minute video can take time. Then working around resources to refine the shoot into a shot list sometimes taking props out after they have been ordered leaving us with a pile of unused items.
Other times getting all the items for a shoot can take weeks. Building props, ordering items from everywhere and hunting down those critical items that can often take several weeks to get. Fast forward a few weeks and the team is engaged in a different video and we never get back to the idea that we need the props to shoot.
These costs and time constraints often prevent content creators from getting the most out of their videos.
But we can help by opening up our huge collection of props to anyone using our studio or outdoor areas. All props are free to use with at least 1 hour of studio rental. Of course, many of the props would cost you way more than an hour of studio time.
But best of all, we planned out shoots and bout multiple props for the same videos. So in many cases, we have entire themes, such as our science lab.
It would cost you a fortune to set up a science lab and cost prohibitive for a short YouTube video. But we have a working lab set up for your science fiction short film about a lab leak creating the zombie apocalypse or the nutty scientist that actually turns his dog into a cat.
Having a cool science lab with pipettors, centrifuges and other lab equipment and supplies could really elevate your production. But what respectable lab is going to let you come in and shoot video for a couple hours, contaminate their lab and stop their work?
That is why big movie companies build their own sets, but the rest of us have to depend on family, friends as try to tip toe around everyone's schedule to get what we need.
While Mr Dig Poop Studios is primarily a YouTube Content Creator and is used to micro budgets and trying to make videos on the cheap.
We are great at fabricating props on the fly, in fact we are kind of a fly by the seat of our pants production team. We are lean, efficient and try to keep costs at a minimum so that we can get better productions.
